About Aprendiz

¿What are the first steps?: The professor has to create a school, and automatically will be guided to create a personal account as a professor/administrator linked to it. If the school already exists in the system, you will have to contact the administrator and ask to be added. The "Mentor's desk” is your work place.
What happens if there are several professors imparting the same subject?: All professors that have a subject assigned can see and use the tests that other professors of the subject have created. But they can only make changes in the tests that they have personally created.
What must I do to link Aprendiz with my school system?: Aprendiz doesn't require any particular action. It only reports results of tests and missions to the professor with detail, so he can assign grades as he decides. If the professor wants to extend prizes or consecuences of their performance in the real world, he or she can do so at their convenience.
Can students see the grade I give them immediately?: Yes. Tests are graded immediately, and the system immediately tells a student when their mission has been graded.
Can I change the tests I make once they are done?: Yes, as long as you are the author of a test, you can make changes to it at any moment. We reccomend you don't do so once students start answering it, unless it is a correction.

Courses

I don't have all the tests or activities I will use in a given group ready. Does Aprendiz allow me to start a course this way?: No, you don't need to have them all finished at the start of the period, although that would be ideal. It is possible to upload only some of them (3 is the minimum) and add more afterwards. However, we strongly reccomend that the teacher create at least "placeholder" (empty or incomplete) exams and missions, scheduled to not be accesible until a certain date.
How do I replicate a group/course for this or a future period?: To Aprendiz, courses consist simply in a list of students and a calendar of tests and missions. It allows the professor to make the courses different each time, and he/she only needs to add activities to the schedule in order to apply them in future courses.
Can I export student grades to a spreadsheet?: Yes, the results screen for each group has a button that exports the grades of each group to a .CSV (Excel-compatible standard format) spreadsheet.
Can I apply the same test in different groups?: Yes, you may apply it in as many groups as you have, and if a professor of the same school imparts the same subject, he can use it as well (without modifying it).
What happens if the student loses connection during a test?: Aprendiz saves the solution answer by answer as it is given, and increases the result from 0 to 100% as the correct answers accumulate, so in the very worst case, the student will keep the result obtained up to the moment of disconecction, (supposing connection isn't restored in time) alificación porcentual en la que se quedó (suponiendo que no regrese la conexión antes de su tiempo límite, o que el alumno no pueda continuar). Is there a maximum number of opportunities that the student has to answer a test?: Students can continue solving exams indefinitely, but strarting from the fifth chance, you won't win any more points.
Do I have to pay constant attention to the game aspects of my group?: No, you don't have to be attentive to points, levels, etc. But aprendiz gives the professor feedback about all the student's performance and their comments on the group wall.
Can they send me, and can I send them, files?: The student can attach a file of up to 2 MB to accompany the solution of a mission.

Administration

Where can I change and add subjects, professors or multiple students?: Go into the "manage school" section, where you can manage information for the whole school.
How can I help a student with problems at login?: Verify the student has the right username (non case sensitive) and is trying to login at the right URL, with the corresponding alias for your school. Additionaly, you can change their password (this IS case-sensitive)
What happens if someone else wants to create my school?: If someone from your own school tries to create a separate account for it, Aprendiz will detect very similar names, and definitely won't allow two identical alias. During the school creation process, the professor will be presented with the schools with the most similar name to the one being created. If he/she recognizes a previous version of the school, the creator can be contacted. In any case, a particular teacher can leave behind a personal account and join a larger school account, or create it if neccesary.
Can students subscribe on their own?: Currently, the only way a student can join a group is by being added by a professoror administrator. That person will create student accounts and, if he/she included an e-mail account with the student info, the student will receive a welcome message together with access credentials. If not, the student will have to contact the professor directly.
